Firstly I wanted to take the materials given to us all by nature. I found the way they had been made in the mixing pot of the growth and the development of this planet absolutely amazing. I then started to think how man has used these materials to portray his power, his wealth. I searched for these materials - a broken marble top washstand, some slate, all items just lying around perfect for recycling. I wanted to portray the beauty and rich texture of the material and let myself be influenced by prosperous times as far as the designs go.

The glass is from a chapel window demolished ten years ago.
